100 Meters Women last event of the night 21:55 Start Time
Richardson's win is the one that sets the airwaves on alert as her past endeavors have been nothing short of controversial after her de-selection from the 2021 US Olympic team last year for testing positive to weed. Her outspokenness has also kept her in the spotlight. But today she has pulled it all together and running from Lane 9 after a third place in her semi, she was able to blow past the now aging stars of the Jamaican team Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Her convincing win in the 100 today along with Noah Lyles' win yesterday has put the US back into the 100 meters limelight which had been abandoned for sometime. Now the question is can the US teams hold it together on the 4x100 relays? Will they be out there practicing later tonight or early tomorrow? As John Jacobs, the venerable old track coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1923-1958 used to say, when complacency was rearing it's ugly head, "This ain't no county track meet."
